Nikyta Palmisani visions her work in concentric circles: from the inner life of the individual, to place based community health and resilience, to global health. She is an Ecopsychologist and climate change educator, facilitator and systems thinker who works at the intersections of climate and inner transformational change. She brings a rich background in creating mental health and resilience through the arts and spent a decade founding and running several large scale programs in Expressive Arts Therapy. Nikyta has also been a yoga & mindfulness instructor for the last 25 years and combines this with place based knowing to deepen our relationship to the animate world.
Nikyta also has an in-depth background in the circular economy, citizen led community innovations for zero waste, and founded a maker space dedicated to increasing the local circular economy. She pairs her passion for sustainability with the reuse of materials through active engagement in promoting share-based community models.
Nikyta lives and practices on a small, rural island in the Pacific Northwest of the United States where community and ecological health is central. Her passion for regenerative agriculture, community care and an engaged climate community are roots that feed the branches of her national and international work. To this end she has created an ongoing Arts Residency and creates meaningful community engagement through the arts as the Community Alchemist at the local Library– libraries being central to the share based economy.
To maintain her own health and resilience, Nikyta can often be found tracing the deer trails through the forests, tracking the fruiting bodies of mushrooms and their seasonal patterns of emergence through the leaf litter, or simply marveling in ever-present awe and wonder at the vast multitudes of diverse life to be found one step outside the front door.
